Son aplicables a redes de centros de datos y campus, lo que permite una interconexión rentable, eficiente y de alta velocidad entre conmutadores, enrutadores, servidores y controladores de interfaz de red (NIC).

Los cables ópticos activos (AOC) son adecuados para la transmisión a corta distancia y ofrecen una forma flexible de conectarse dentro de los racks y entre ellos. Los AOC son mucho más finos y ligeros que los cables de cobre, lo que facilita la gestión del cableado. Los AOC permiten un flujo de aire eficiente del sistema, lo que es crucial en racks de alta densidad. La serie de cables XG-SFP-AOC-xx se presenta en tres modelos: XG-SFP-AOC1M, XG-SFP-AOC3M y XG-SFP-AOC5M en longitudes de 1 metro, 3 metros y 5 metros respectivamente.
